Film: An Act of Love - The story of Rev. Frank Schaefer
"An Act of Love" tells, in intimate detail, the stories of those who have fought for LGBTQ inclusion in the United Methodist Church. The film centers on an unlikely advocate in the fight for equal rights within the Church, Reverend Frank Schaefer, who had his ministerial credentials revoked in December 2013 after officiating his son’s same-sex wedding. Schaefer’s story is presented in the context of the larger debate in the UMC over same-sex marriage and the ordination of gay and lesbian clergy. The San Francisco Chronicle calls the film "Emotionally powerful and ultimately uplifting ... compelling from beginning to end." Future screenings include:
